Rs Meeting is an event held every year in Japan by GTR Magazine, this was the 12th event and coincided with 50 years of the GTR badge (along with 30 for the BNR32 and 20 for the BNR34). So it was quite a momentous anniversary, I was fortunate enough to attend…
This article has the title ‘Lo-Fi’ because all these images were taken on a disposable camera & there has been no editing to them except adding a watermark (even though some of them there probably should have been edited haha!).
I am not going to run through the event in depth here, I will leave that for subsequent posts. Here I am just going to run through every pic I took in order that I took them – except for the pic of me standing out the front looking like a proper tourist, you don’t need to see that! Enjoy…
The first car I came across in the parking lot worthy of a photo was the Global Auto circuit R34. Just casually parked , road registered – this would give some clue as to how crazy the rest of the day would be!
Rather embarrassingly I appear to have put my hand across the lens as well…
I am not 100% sure why I enjoy taking a disposable camera when I have a perfectly functioning digital camera but I think there are a few reasons. The feel, lack of complication, etc. but I am sure you aren’t really interested in that so I will keep going with the pics.
Once inside the display area the Nismo stand had all the CRS cars on display, these are truly something else, the closest you can get to the perfect GTR? They would have to be close…
Just to be at Fuji Speedway was an experience, yes the main straight is lonnnnngggg!
Heading back to the car park for a minute we came across this scene, it is no secret the Japanese like cartoons!
Not GTR related but Liberty Walk had a large number of cars at Rs Meeting – It looked like they were doing a photo shoot at the same time. Yes. that is my hand across the lens again…
Hard to believe by this stage it was already lunch time… but it was, a local chicken burger of some variety and views of GTRs roaring past was pretty good!
This is not a mistake (even though I didn’t realise I took so many non GTR pics). This is one of the Hydrogen fueled Toyota’s available in Japan, we saw 2 on our trip as well as a hydrogen refueling station. This could well be the future and in 50 years this car will be on display at a motor sport festival as one of the first of its kind… who knows!
Anyway, back to the GTRs! In this case one of the GT300 cars that was on display.
This car might seem like just a dumped 35 and it is but it is also the car Rays Engineering chose to promote their new Ultra Track Edition II TE37s you may have seen in adverts (with a more normal ride height).
A beautiful Midnight Purple 34 with a set of the limited Top Secret TE37s oh and also my hand again!
I have seen plenty of pics of the 4 door R33 GTR before but seeing it in real life was a treat, it looks fantastic.
More plush cartoons again, this car was full of Pokemon.
The cover shot image, this car is pretty prevalent across Instagram so seeing it in real life was another surreal sight. Not necessarily how I have modded my car but nothing wrong with it none the less…
Looking out over one of the paddock areas, this was later in the day and a lot of the cars had gone. That must be one of few stock R34s left on factory wheels…
Being the 50th Anniversary of the GTR badge there were a few of the ‘original’ GTRs on display and in the carpark.
Great to see the various variations (how is that for a tongue twister) of GTRs!
This is one of the rarest of the GTRs, a car made to allow Nissan to enter Le Mans racing. This is the only one known to be in existence and was on display all day.
Heading back track side I am rather surprised I managed to actually take a pan shot and it not turn out super blurry! One of the good things about Rs Meeting is that a lot of cars are out on track allowing you to see, hear and feel them as the blast the track. The R35s were noticeably (generally) faster than the older models!
Not this R35 though, it pumped out a plume of smoke before being towed back to the pit lane.
Here I was just admiring the architecture… Mount Fuji was hidden for the day.
At the end of the day the traffic jam was beautiful! A couple of serious R35 builds here…
This car park was full of GTRs, you can still see people rolling out here. Mount Fuji remains hidden…
Some beautiful 32s, in fact some of the best I have ever seen.
Back in the car heading home and there was still plenty to see!
Calsonic Group A replica anyone? Yes, that is proof I was using a disposable camera!
The Global Auto transporters, this with the 4ooR and a very tidy 34, the one behind it had the Z Tune and another beautiful 34… It was surreal to get stuck behind them in traffic!
The last pic on the roll, Fuji Speedway, the setting for an epic day! Plenty of attendees were getting pics as they headed off.
That wraps up my Lo-Fi adventure, I will have plenty more pics to come off my digital camera, as always follow the socials including my Instagram @kurosorablog (& Facebook ) if you want to come along for the ride.
